Germinated brown rice (English Version)
GB/T42173-2022 "Sprouted Brown Rice" standard was issued in 2022 and officially implemented in 2023. The standard was proposed by the State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves to regulate the production and quality management of sprouted brown rice and ensure the safety and consistency of the product. With the growth of consumer demand for healthy food, the market demand for sprouted brown rice, as a whole grain product with high nutritional value, has grown rapidly. However, the lack of unified quality standards in the industry has led to uneven product quality. To this end, this standard came into being to fill the gap in the industry.
Chapter | GB/T42173-2022 | Comparison of relevant standards |
---|---|---|
Scope | Applicable to sprouted brown rice products with paddy or brown rice as raw materials | - |
Normative referenced documents | GB/T1.1-2020, GB1350, etc. | - |
Terms and definitions | Clearly define the terms "sprouted brown rice", "impurities", "imperfect grains", etc. | - |
Raw material requirements: Paddy and brown rice must comply with the provisions of GB1350 and GB/T18810 to ensure the quality of basic raw materials.
Quality indicators: The quality indicators of germinated brown rice include color, smell, impurity content, broken rice content, etc. The following is a comparison of the main quality indicators:
Item | Quality requirements |
---|---|
Color | Has the inherent color and luster of germinated brown rice |
Smell | Has the inherent smell of germinated brown rice |
Impurity content/% | ≤0.20 |
Case analysis: A company adopted GB/T5494 standard to test the impurity content of germinated brown rice and found that some batches exceeded the standard. By optimizing the production process and strictly screening the raw materials, the impurity content was finally controlled below 0.15%.
