Scope
This document specifies the grade representation method, ordering content, size, shape, weight, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificate of steel plates and steel strips for fire-resistant structures. This document is applicable to steel plates with a thickness of no more than 150 mm and steel strips with a thickness of no more than 25.4 mm and their sheared steel plates (hereinafter referred to as steel plates and steel strips) mainly used for the manufacture of general structures and engineering structures with fire-resistant properties.

Standard revision background and technical evolution analysis

GB/T 28415 series standards are mainly used to guide the production and application of steel plates and strips for fire-resistant structures. With the improvement of fire resistance requirements in the construction industry, the new version of the standard has been optimized in the following aspects:

New high-strength steel grades

New high-strength fire-resistant steel grades such as Q500FR, Q550FR, Q620FR and Q690FR have been added, which significantly improve the yield strength and tensile properties of the material to meet the needs of high-rise buildings and complex structures.

Optimize chemical composition control

The requirements for molybdenum (Mo) and chromium (Cr) element content have been added on the original basis, and the fire resistance and high-temperature stability have been improved through alloying. At the same time, the total amount limit of niobium (Nb), vanadium (V) and titanium (Ti) has been refined.

Strengthening mechanical performance indicators

The impact absorption energy standards at room temperature and high temperature conditions have been improved, and new high-temperature tensile performance requirements have been added to ensure the reliability of materials under extreme conditions such as fire.

Implementation suggestions

To ensure the effective implementation of the new version of the standard:

  • Design units should fully consider the mechanical properties of the new steel grade and optimize the structural design;
  • Construction units need to strengthen the acceptance of materials entering the site and conduct inspections strictly in accordance with the standards;
  • Supervision units should supervise the implementation of the standards to ensure material quality.
