Scope
This document specifies the requirements for safety accessories and instruments of water tube boilers, including safety valves, pressure measuring devices, water (liquid) level measurement and display control devices, temperature measuring devices, sewage discharge and water discharge devices, and protection devices. This document is applicable to the safety accessories and instruments selected for water tube boilers defined in GB/T16507.1.
Introduction

Key points of the core revision of the standard

Technical elements Requirements of the 2013 version Changes in the 2022 version
Safety valve type Power-driven pressure relief valve is not specified New definition in Article 3.7, allowing it to be used as an overpressure protection device
Direct current boiler safety valve Combined displacement ratio is not specified It is clarified that the displacement of the power-driven pressure relief valve accounts for 10-30% (5.2.6)
Interlock protection power supply No backup power supply management requirements Added Article 10.30 that the backup power supply cannot be withdrawn at will

Safety accessories configuration requirements

1. Safety valve system

Based on the working pressure difference of water tube boilers:

  • Steam boilers must be equipped with ≥2 full-lift spring safety valves (5.1.1)
  • Hot water boilers are allowed to use micro-lift safety valves. When the rated power is ≤2.8MW, only one valve can be installed (5.1.1c)
  • 0.1MPa low-pressure boilers can use static weight safety valves or water seal devices (5.1.4)

2. Pressure monitoring system

Case: A boiler in a power station burst due to a pipe failure due to the lack of a pressure gauge at the economizer outlet. Article 6.1c of the new standard clearly requires that a pressure gauge must be installed at the economizer outlet (except for drum boilers).

Key technical innovations

1. Optimization of safety valve displacement calculation

Standard 5.2.8 provides three methods for calculating the displacement:

  1. Data provided by the manufacturer
  2. Use the K-factor correction formula: E=0.235A(10.2p+1)K
  3. According to the special formula of NB/T47063

2. Digital protection system

Article 10.10 recommends the use of a SIL3 safety-related system, which must comply with the following:

  • Independent redundant controller
  • Physically isolated I/O channels
  • Prohibition of communication bus transmission of tripping commands

Implementation suggestions

1. Design stage

  • For direct-current boilers, the displacement ratio of the power-driven pressure relief valve and the safety valve needs to be calculated (5.2.6)
  • Circulating fluidized bed boilers should be equipped with a bed temperature and bed pressure interlock system (10.25)

2. Operation and maintenance

  • Test the automatic switching function of the backup power supply every month (10.30)
  • Flush and calibrate the water level meter every shift (7.2.5)
